Coimbatore Police Seek Public Opinion on Women's Safety, Issue Guidelines for Bars and Pubs

Coimbatore police launch initiative for public input on women's safety, especially for night shift workers. QR code shared for emergency contacts and opinions. Guidelines issued for bars and pubs to protect customer privacy.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore city police have initiated a public outreach program to gather opinions on women's safety issues, particularly focusing on those working night shifts or traveling at night. As part of this effort, the police have shared a QR code through their social media accounts and at various public locations.

The QR code, when scanned, provides access to emergency contact numbers and allows the public to submit their opinions regarding women's safety. This initiative aims to enhance the safety measures for women in the city and encourage public participation in addressing safety concerns.

In a recent release, the city police highlighted the emerging trend of financially independent women living alone becoming targets of cheating and other crimes. The police have advised caution when interacting with unknown persons in social settings and while sharing personal contact details.

The police have also issued strict guidelines for pubs and bars in the city regarding customer privacy. Managements are instructed not to disclose customer contact details, often collected for feedback and notifications, to third parties. Legal action will be taken against establishments that violate this directive or if customers face any negative experiences due to mismanagement by bar operators or staff.

Joint action teams comprising police and Revenue Department officials are conducting surprise inspections at bars in the city to check for rule violations. The police have warned that cases will be registered against violators, and recommendations for license suspension will be made for bars found breaking norms during these inspections.

This comprehensive approach by the Coimbatore police aims to create a safer environment for women in the city while ensuring that entertainment establishments adhere to strict privacy and safety standards.
