Water Resources Department officials have released the latest water level data for key dams across Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts as of March 26. Aliyar, Parambikulam, Solayar, Amaravathi, and Thirumoorthy dams show varying inflow and outflow patterns following recent rainfall in their catchment areas.

Coimbatore: Water Resources Department officials have announced the updated water levels and flow statistics for major dams in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts as of March 26, following sustained rainfall in the catchment areas.

Aliyar Dam Water Status

The Aliyar Dam, located near Anaimalai with a total storage capacity of 120 feet, currently stands at a water level of 65.15 feet as of March 26. The dam is receiving an inflow of 356 cubic feet per second (cusecs) from its catchment areas due to recent rainfall. Officials are releasing 243 cusecs of water from the dam to manage the storage levels effectively.

Parambikulam Dam Current Levels

Parambikulam Dam, situated near Pollachi with a maximum capacity of 72 feet, has witnessed its water level rise to 54.14 feet as of March 26. This increase is attributed to the southwest monsoon rains in the dam's catchment regions. The dam is currently receiving an inflow of 94 cusecs, while the outflow stands at a significantly higher 1,120 cusecs, indicating controlled water release operations.

Solayar Dam Water Statistics

The Solayar Dam in Valparai, with a storage capacity of 160 feet, currently holds water at 2.58 feet as of March 26. The inflow to the dam is recorded at 21 cusecs due to rainfall in its catchment areas. The Water Resources Department is releasing 5 cusecs of water from the dam as part of regular management protocols.

Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur District

Located in Tiruppur district, the Amaravathi Dam has a total capacity of 90 feet and currently maintains a water level of 38.03 feet as of March 26. Despite continuous water availability from catchment areas, the dam is currently receiving zero inflow. However, authorities are releasing 30 cusecs of water to meet downstream requirements, according to Water Resources Department officials.

Thirumoorthy Dam Update

The Thirumoorthy Dam, situated near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district with a capacity of 60 feet, stands at 37.96 feet as of March 26. The dam is experiencing substantial inflow of 620 cusecs from its catchment regions due to sustained rainfall. Water Resources officials are releasing 375 cusecs from the dam to maintain optimal storage levels and ensure proper water management.

The Water Resources Department continues to monitor all dam levels closely and adjust release patterns based on inflow conditions and downstream water requirements. Farmers and residents dependent on these water sources are advised to stay updated with official announcements regarding water release schedules.
