Social activists donate funds for Anganwadi construction in Coimbatore's Wards 45 and 43

Social activists in Coimbatore have donated Rs. 20.55 lakhs for the construction of a new Anganwadi center and renovation of an existing one in Wards 45 and 43, respectively, under the Namakku Naame scheme.


Coimbatore: In a commendable act of social responsibility, local activists have come forward to support the development of Anganwadi centers in Coimbatore. On July 9, a cheque for Rs. 20.55 lakhs was presented to Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS at the Corporation's main office.

The funds, donated under the Namakku Naame scheme, will be utilized for two projects. The first project involves the construction of a new Anganwadi center in Sai Baba Colony, K.K. Pudhur area, which falls under Ward 45 of the West Zone. The second project aims to renovate an existing Anganwadi center located on Radhakrishnan Street in Jawahar Puram area, which comes under Ward 43.

The cheque was handed over by Mr. Lakshminarayanan and his family members on behalf of his brother, Mr. Ramesh Venkataraman, a social activist currently working abroad and hailing from Sai Baba Colony. The total estimated cost of both projects is Rs. 41.10 lakhs, with the donated amount covering half of the expenses.

Notably, these Anganwadi center projects will be executed and maintained by Coimbatore's WOW EDUCARE organization. The new Anganwadi center to be constructed will employ Modular Technology in its building process, ensuring a modern and efficient structure.

This initiative demonstrates the active participation of citizens in community development, particularly in enhancing early childhood care and education facilities in Coimbatore.
