The demonstration was inaugurated by AITUC's state secretary and former Valparai MLA Arumugam, with district general secretary Thangavel presiding over the event.
The protestors emphasized that despite a government order issued in 2017, no action has been taken to provide statutory minimum wages to workers who have been serving in essential roles in rural local bodies for over 42 years.
