IndiGo Airlines Keen on Starting Coimbatore-Abu Dhabi Flight Service

Airlines plan to increase domestic and international flight services from Coimbatore Airport soon. Officials stated that they are considering starting flight services from Coimbatore to Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Abu Dhabi.


Coimbatore: Airline officials have indicated that steps will be taken to increase flight services from Coimbatore Airport to various cities within India and to foreign countries soon. This information has instilled confidence among industrialists and air passengers.

Satish, Director of Kongu Global Forum, stated, "Traffic congestion at Coimbatore Airport is increasing day by day. Infrastructure facilities need to be improved accordingly. It is welcome news that land acquisition work has been completed. The lands will soon be handed over to the AAI administration."

In a recent discussion organized by CII with airline officials in Coimbatore, various points were shared. Scoot Airlines, which currently operates flights to Singapore, was urged to increase its services to eight per week and to operate more A321 aircraft that can accommodate 236 passengers.

IndiGo Airlines, which currently operates 20 domestic flights from Coimbatore, was requested to change the timing of the Coimbatore-Pune night flight to morning. Similarly, requests were made to change the Coimbatore-Goa flight from 7 AM to 12 PM, and to start smaller aircraft (72-seater ATR) services between Coimbatore and Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mangaluru.

Officials stated that they are considering starting flight services from Coimbatore to Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Abu Dhabi. Air India currently operates two services between Delhi and Coimbatore, while Vistara provides one service. It was mentioned that Vistara Airlines would soon be merged with Air India.

A request was made for a morning flight service between Coimbatore and Delhi, which would allow people from Coimbatore and surrounding districts to utilize Air India's flights to various European countries from Delhi.

Murali, Sales Officer (Tamil Nadu, Andhra) of Scoot Airlines, Priyadarshan, Sales Officer (Tamil Nadu) of Air India, and Srinivasan, Sales Officer (Tamil Nadu) of IndiGo Airlines, who participated in the meeting, stated that Coimbatore is proving to be an excellent airport for them commercially. They also mentioned that steps are being taken to increase domestic and international flight services and expand cargo handling capabilities soon.

Satish concluded by saying that the information provided by the airline officials has generated great confidence among the business community and travelers in Coimbatore.
