Coimbatore Ward 26 Councillor Seeks Relocation of Flyover Ramp on Avinashi Road

Chitra Velliangiri, Ward 26 Councillor, requests officials to relocate the flyover ramp on Avinashi Road to prevent traffic congestion and public inconvenience in Peelamedu area.

Coimbatore: Chitra Velliangiri, the Ward 26 Councillor and DMK Council Group Leader of Coimbatore Corporation, has submitted a petition to various officials regarding the ongoing flyover work on Avinashi Road. The petition addresses concerns about potential traffic congestion and public inconvenience in the Peelamedu area due to the current placement of the flyover ramp.

The councillor has sent the petition directly to the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, the District Collector, and via registered post to the Chief Minister and the Minister for Highways and Minor Ports. In her petition, Velliangiri highlights that thousands of vehicles, including pedestrians, autos, cars, taxis, and heavy vehicles, will be unable to move from VK Road to Avinashi Road in Ward 26 due to the flyover ramp obstructing the road.

Velliangiri points out that work has already begun near the 172nd pillar at the junction of Vilankurichi Road and Avinashi Road, near the western part of PSG Tech, blocking vehicle movement. To prevent a similar situation from occurring elsewhere, she requests that the ramp be elevated and moved 100 meters westward on VK Road. This adjustment would allow for the construction of a road capable of accommodating heavy vehicles.

The councillor emphasizes the importance of taking action to prevent severe inconvenience to the general public in the Peelamedu area. She urges the officials to consider her request and take necessary steps to relocate the flyover ramp, ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimizing disruption to local residents and commuters.
