Thenserimalai Farmers Producer Organization, guided by Isha Outreach, received the Best FPO Award for 2023-24 from NABARD at its 43rd annual celebration in Chennai on July 18.
Coimbatore: The Thenserimalai Farmers Producer Organization (FPO), operating successfully under the guidance of Isha Outreach, has been awarded the Best FPO Award for the financial year 2023-24 by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development). The award was presented by the Honorable Minister for Cooperation, Periyakaruppan, at the 43rd annual celebration held in Chennai on July 18.

Thenserimalai FPO has been recognized as one of the best-performing FPOs supported by NABARD in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Rangaraj, a farmer and director of Thenserimalai Farmers Producer Company, along with Swami Nalatha representing Isha Outreach, received the award from the Minister during the ceremony.
Thenserimalai Farmers Producer Company operates as one of the 25 FPOs guided by Isha Outreach, which is part of the Save Soil movement. Established in the Sultan Pettai area of Coimbatore, the organization attracted over 750 farmers as members in its very first year.
The FPO provides guidance and support to its member farmers in coconut cultivation and marketing. With coconut as its primary crop, the organization achieved a total sales of Rs. 1.58 crore in its first year. It's noteworthy that a total of 9,377 farmers are benefiting through the FPOs operating under the direct guidance of Isha Outreach.
Prior to the award presentation, the Chief General Manager of NABARD, Regional Manager, Regional Manager of RBI, and Zonal Manager of Indian Bank were present at the event.
