Coimbatore Police Seek Public Opinion on Traffic Diversion Plans

Coimbatore City Police announce plans for traffic diversion on 100 Feet Road to Sivananda Colony route. Public invited to share feedback by July 31, 2024, as part of efforts to reduce congestion.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have announced plans for traffic diversion and are seeking public opinion on the proposed changes. In a press release issued on July 23, the police stated that the increasing number of vehicles in Coimbatore city has led to traffic congestion, prompting them to take various measures to alleviate the problem.

As part of these efforts, the police are considering making the route from 100 Feet Road to Sivananda Colony a one-way street. The proposed diversion would direct vehicles from 100 Feet Road to turn left at the Sheela Hospital junction, proceed via Kongunadu Hospital, Cross Cut Road, and then turn right onto the service road of the North Coimbatore flyover to reach Power House and continue to Sivananda Colony or 100 Feet Road.

The police have invited public feedback on this proposal. Residents can share their opinions by July 31, 2024, via phone at 0422-2212567 or email at [email protected].

Additionally, the police addressed the issue of Omni buses causing traffic congestion, especially during night hours. To mitigate this, they have designated only two boarding points for Omni buses: Gandhi Puram and Tidel Park. Passengers are advised to arrive on time for boarding, as buses will not be allowed to wait for late arrivals. The police have emphasized that Omni buses should not be parked on the roads for extended periods to avoid disrupting traffic flow and inconveniencing the public.

The police also mentioned the ongoing construction of an elevated corridor on Avinashi Road, which is another measure being implemented to address the increasing vehicle population in the city.
