Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has announced a new initiative by the Tamil Nadu government to provide financial assistance for setting up readymade garment production units. This innovative scheme aims to improve the economic conditions of people belonging to backward classes, most backward classes, minorities, and denotified communities in Tamil Nadu.

According to the announcement, the government will provide a grant of Rs. 3 lakhs to cover the costs of necessary machinery, raw materials, and other preliminary expenses required to establish a readymade garment production unit. To be eligible for this scheme, applicants must form a group of 10 members, with each member's annual income not exceeding Rs. 1 lakh.

Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has advised those interested in benefiting from this scheme to approach the District Backward Classes Welfare Office located at the District Collector's Office. This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities and boost the local textile industry in Coimbatore.

The scheme is part of the government's efforts to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment among economically weaker sections of society. By focusing on the readymade garment sector, which has significant potential for growth, the government aims to create a sustainable source of income for beneficiaries while contributing to the overall economic development of the region.
