Minister Muthuswamy Announces Technical Team to Study Wayanad Landslide, Visits Elephant Attack Victim in Coimbatore

Housing Minister Muthuswamy visited an elephant attack victim in Coimbatore, provided relief funds, and announced a technical team's visit to Wayanad to study the recent landslide. He also shared details about the Chief Minister's upcoming visit to Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Housing Minister Muthuswamy visited a man undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Coimbatore after being attacked by an elephant.



The minister provided relief funds to the victim and later addressed the media.



Minister Muthuswamy stated that Bhaskar, who was attacked by an elephant while on an elephant corridor in Coimbatore, suffered injuries to both legs and is receiving special treatment. As per the Chief Minister's orders, relief funds have been provided to the victim. The minister also mentioned that families of those who lose their lives in elephant attacks would receive a relief amount of Rs 10 lakhs.

Muthuswamy informed that various measures are being taken by concerned officials to prevent elephants from crossing boundaries. He announced plans for a consultation meeting with forest department officials to prevent such incidents in Coimbatore and Erode areas. The minister added that steps would be taken to remove any encroachments in forest areas.

Regarding the recent landslide in Wayanad, the minister revealed that a technical team from Tamil Nadu would visit the site in about ten days, once the situation stabilizes, to study the causes of the landslide. He stated that lessons from such incidents would be used to regulate similar vulnerable areas in Tamil Nadu.

Minister Muthuswamy also shared information about Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's upcoming visit to Coimbatore on August 9. The Chief Minister's itinerary includes inaugurating the Tamil Puthalvan scheme at the Government Arts College, opening the Ukkadam flyover, and unveiling the Kalaignar statue in Kaniyur.
