Case Filed Against Coimbatore Hindu Makkal Katchi State Secretary for Religious Defamation on Facebook

Coimbatore police file case against Tamil Nadu Hindu Makkal Katchi State Secretary for posting defamatory religious comments on Facebook, following Commissioner's order to monitor social media for inflammatory content.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police have registered a case against the Tamil Nadu Hindu Makkal Katchi State Secretary, Kalani Ramakrishnan, for allegedly posting defamatory comments about religions on Facebook. This action comes in the wake of the City Police Commissioner's directive to take action against individuals posting inflammatory content on social media platforms.

Sub-Inspector Kuralarasan of Singanallur Police Station, while monitoring Facebook accounts as per the Commissioner's orders, discovered that Kalani Ramakrishnan had posted comments that could potentially incite conflict between two religious communities. The police viewed these posts as a threat to communal harmony.

Concerned about the possibility of tensions escalating between different groups, Sub-Inspector Kuralarasan filed a complaint at the Singanallur Police Station. Based on this complaint, the police have registered a case against Kalani Ramakrishnan, the State Secretary of Tamil Nadu Hindu Makkal Katchi.

The Coimbatore City Police are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. This incident highlights the increasing scrutiny of social media content by law enforcement agencies to prevent communal disharmony and maintain public order in the city.
