Youth Deceives and Robs Female Shopkeeper at Rice Store Near R.S. Puram, Coimbatore

A youth in his 30s robbed a rice store in R.S. Puram, Coimbatore, on August 6. He distracted the shopkeeper, Rajeswari, and stole a laptop and other items before fleeing the scene.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident near R.S. Puram, Coimbatore, a youth deceived and robbed a female shopkeeper at her rice store on August 6. The victim, 47-year-old Rajeswari, who runs a rice store on V.C.M. Road near Syrian Church Road in R.S. Puram, fell prey to the cunning tactics of the thief.

According to reports, a man approximately 30 years old entered Rajeswari's shop and asked for idli rice. While Rajeswari was weighing the rice, the youth attempted to take the electronic weighing scale. When questioned by Rajeswari, he cleverly deflected suspicion by claiming it was an accidental touch.

The youth then requested 5 kg and 2 kg packs of idli rice, prompting Rajeswari to go inside the store to fetch them. Upon her return, she was shocked to discover that the youth had disappeared along with her laptop and other valuables from the shop.

Realizing she had been deceived, Rajeswari immediately filed a complaint at the R.S. Puram Police Station. The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.

This incident serves as a reminder for shopkeepers to remain vigilant and cautious while dealing with customers, especially when alone in their establishments. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the culprit.
