A two-day conference on cotton, themed 'Cotton - The Sustainable Fibre of the Future', began in Coimbatore on August 9. The event aims to discuss opportunities and strategies for India's cotton industry.
Coimbatore: The Indian Cotton Federation and the Indian Cotton Association have jointly organized a two-day conference (August 9-10) in Coimbatore, focusing on the theme 'Cotton - The Sustainable Fibre of the Future'.

The inaugural ceremony of this conference took place on the evening of August 9 at a private hotel on Avinashi Road.

Natarajan, Vice President of the Indian Cotton Federation and Chairman of the conference, inaugurated the event. Thulasidaran, President of the Indian Cotton Federation, presided over the function.

During the ceremony, lifetime achievement awards were presented to Balakrishnan, Chairman of KG Group, and Manivanan, Chairman of LS Mills.
Speaking at the event, Thulasidaran, President of the Indian Cotton Federation, said, "India's relationship with cotton dates back thousands of years. Cotton is not just a commercial commodity but also a symbol of our cultural identity. Our country's climate is conducive to cotton production. We have the potential not only to meet the global market's cotton demand but also to achieve self-sufficiency in cotton production." He further added that this conference would be beneficial in discussing such opportunities and formulating plans to achieve their goals.
The two-day conference will see participation from various garment manufacturing companies and experts who will share their experiences. The event aims to provide a platform for industry leaders to discuss strategies for enhancing India's position in the global cotton market and promoting sustainable practices in cotton cultivation and processing.
