50 percent Priority for Tamil MA Graduates in Assistant Director Roles: Minister M.P. Saminathan in Pollachi

Tamil Development Minister M.P. Saminathan announced in Pollachi that 50 percent priority will be given to Tamil MA graduates for Assistant Director positions in the Tamil Development Department.

Coimbatore: Tamil Development Minister M.P. Saminathan has announced that 50% priority will be given to Tamil MA graduates for Assistant Director positions in the Tamil Development Department. The minister made this statement during a press briefing in Pollachi after inspecting the construction of a memorial mandapam.

The minister visited the ongoing construction of a memorial mandapam at the Superintending Engineer's office premises on the Pollachi-Udumalpet road.

The structure, being built at a cost of Rs. 4.28 lakh, is in memory of former Chief Minister Kamaraj, former Union Minister C. Subramaniam, MLAs V.K. Palanisamy, and N. Mahalingam, who were instrumental in implementing the Parambikulam Aliyar Project.

MP Eswaran and other officials accompanied the minister during the inspection.

Addressing reporters after the visit, Minister Saminathan said, "Until now, there was no procedure for appointing Assistant Directors through TNPSC for those who completed MA in Tamil in the Tamil Development Department. Based on the Chief Minister's order to give importance to Tamil MA graduates, some individuals who initially joined as typists and later worked as supervisors have been promoted to Assistant Director positions."

He further added, "In the coming days, an announcement will be made soon to provide 50% of these opportunities to Tamil MA graduates." This move is expected to boost employment prospects for Tamil language postgraduates and contribute to the development of the Tamil language and culture.
