Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati launched the "Gift an Organ" signature campaign organized by Young Indians on World Organ Donation Day, August 13. The initiative aims to raise awareness about organ donation and save lives.

Coimbatore: The Young Indians organization in Coimbatore has been conducting awareness programs on organ donation annually to commemorate World Organ Donation Day on August 13.

This year, Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated the "Gift an Organ" signature campaign initiated by Young Indians by signing the pledge.

Dr. Subburaja, from the medical division of Young Indians, stated, "Every year in India, approximately 1.5 lakh people lose their lives due to the lack of organ availability. If people come forward to donate organs of those who are brain dead, organs from one brain-dead individual can potentially save up to 15 lives."

Vishnu Prabhakar, Chairman of Young Indians, said, "We have been organizing this organ donation awareness rally for the past 8 years. Today, we have launched this awareness signature campaign under the leadership of the District Collector. Following this, we plan to conduct organ donation awareness programs in all colleges throughout this month."

The Young Indians organization aims to spread awareness about the importance of organ donation and encourage more people to pledge their organs. The signature campaign is expected to reach a wide audience and educate them about the life-saving potential of organ donation.
