Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Conducts Surprise Inspection of Street Lights in South Zone

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS conducted a surprise night inspection of street lights in the South Zone on August 19, 2024, focusing on Podanur Main Road and Kurichi Pollachi Main Road.


Coimbatore: In a late-night surprise inspection on August 19, 2024, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS conducted a thorough check of street lights in the South Zone of the city. The inspection aimed to assess the functionality and maintenance of street lighting in key areas.

Commissioner Prabhakaran visited Ward 99, which includes Podanur Main Road and Padmalaya Layout, as well as Ward 96, covering Kurichi Pollachi Main Road. He personally examined the street lights installed by the Corporation in these areas, identifying non-functional lights and issuing immediate instructions to rectify the issues.



During the inspection, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of proper maintenance of street lights to ensure public safety and convenience. He directed the officials to promptly repair faulty lights and implement a regular maintenance schedule to prevent future breakdowns.

The surprise check was part of the Corporation's efforts to improve urban infrastructure and address citizens' concerns about street lighting in residential areas. Commissioner Prabhakaran stressed the need for efficient lighting systems to enhance road safety and reduce the risk of accidents during nighttime.



Accompanying the Commissioner were Chief Engineer Anbazhagan, Assistant Commissioner (General) Ilangovan, Assistant Executive Engineer Kanagaraj, and Council members including ruling party leader Karthikeyan, Aslam Basha, and Gunasekaran. Assistant Engineers Sabari Raj, Sundarraj, Saranya, and other Corporation officials were also present during the inspection.

The Corporation has urged residents to report any issues with street lighting in their areas to ensure prompt action and maintain well-lit streets across Coimbatore.
