In Coimbatore, six individuals were arrested for threatening and verbally abusing a police officer on duty at the Oppanakara Street-Vysial Street junction. The incident occurred on August 18 when the officer attempted to disperse a disruptive group.

Rangaraj, a Grade I police constable attached to the Kadeisiveethi police station, was on patrol duty in the area. He noticed a group of people causing disturbance in front of textile shops by loudly calling out to passersby. When Rangaraj attempted to reprimand the group, they allegedly responded with abusive language and death threats.
Following the incident, Rangaraj filed a complaint at the Kadeisiveethi police station. Sub-Inspector Kalidas rushed to the scene to investigate. Based on the complaint, six individuals were arrested: Hakeem (37) and Sarbudeen (35) from Karambu Kadai, Cheran Nagar; Hariravendra (21) from Sundakkamuthur; Ansar (28) from Bilal Estate, Ukkadam; Adhipathi (24) from Selvapuram; and Mohamed Ajmal Hussain (34) from Karambu Kadai, Saravanampatti.
The accused have been booked under four sections, including charges of issuing death threats, obstructing a government official from performing duties, and using abusive language. The case has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
