TNAU's Forest College and Research Institute Hosts Career Guidance Workshop for Forestry and Sericulture Graduates in Mettupalayam

Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam, organized a Career Guidance Workshop on August 24, 2024, for Forestry and Sericulture graduates, providing insights into career opportunities and professional development strategies.


Coimbatore: The Forest College and Research Institute (FC&RI), Mettupalayam, a constituent college of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), successfully conducted a Career Guidance Workshop for graduates in Forestry and Sericulture on August 24, 2024. The event aimed to equip participants with valuable insights and strategies for navigating their professional paths in these specialized fields.



Dr. S. Venkatesan, IFS, Additional Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Executive Officer of KaMPA, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Venkatesan, an alumnus of the institute, emphasized the vast career opportunities available for forestry and sericulture graduates. He stressed the importance of building competitiveness to seize these opportunities through such career guidance workshops.



Dr. A. Balasubramanian, Dean of the institute, urged the students to secure placements or establish their own companies in the sector. He highlighted the proverb, "Be Job Providers, Not Job Seekers," encouraging graduates to think entrepreneurially.



The workshop featured distinguished experts, career counselors, and industry professionals who provided in-depth guidance on various career opportunities, emerging trends, and essential skills required in the forestry and sericulture sectors. Interactive sessions, panel discussions, and hands-on activities were designed to address current challenges and future prospects in these fields.

Dr. I. Sekar, Professor of Forestry, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. S. Umesh Kanna, Professor of Forestry, coordinated the event. The workshop received positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the practical insights and actionable advice offered.
