Hindu Munnani Disowns Arrested Man Who Extorted Money for Vinayagar Idol Installation in Tirupur

A man claiming to be from Hindu Munnani was arrested in Tirupur for extorting money and vandalizing a food stall. Hindu Munnani denies his association with their organization.

Tirupur: In a recent incident in Tirupur, a man claiming to be a member of Hindu Munnani was arrested for extorting money and vandalizing a food stall. The Hindu Munnani organization has since issued a statement denying any association with the arrested individual.

The incident occurred in Ganapathi Nagar, Abirami Theater Road, Boyampalayam, Tirupur. The victim, Ganapathi (52), runs a push-cart food stall in the area. On August 25, a group of individuals, including a man named Rasukutty, approached Ganapathi claiming to be from Hindu Munnani. They were collecting donations for Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations. Ganapathi reportedly contributed Rs. 550 and received a receipt from the group.

Two days later, around 10 PM, Rasukutt y and four others, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, returned to Ganapathi's food stall. They demanded an additional Rs. 3,000 as a donation. When Ganapathi refused, stating he had already contributed, the group became aggressive. They attempted to assault Ganapathi and vandalized his push-cart food stall.

Following the incident, Ganapathi filed a complaint at the Anupparpalayam Police Station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Rasukutty (29), who claimed to be associated with Hindu Munnani. The police are currently searching for four other individuals involved in the incident.

In an interesting turn of events, the Hindu Munnani organization has distanced itself from the arrested individual. They issued a statement clarifying that Rasukutty is not a member of their organization. The statement further added that Rasukutty was misusing the name of Hindu Munnani. The organization claimed they had filed a separate complaint against him at the police station for falsely using their name, which led to his arrest.

This incident has raised concerns about individuals misusing the names of established organizations for personal gain and criminal activities. The police investigation is ongoing to apprehend the other suspects involved in the extortion and vandalism case.
