Two arrested for attempting to kidnap lawyer's daughter in Coimbatore

Two men were arrested in Coimbatore for attempting to kidnap a lawyer's daughter outside a hotel on Railway Station Road. The incident occurred on September 3 when the family was dining out.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, two men were arrested for attempting to kidnap a lawyer's daughter in Coimbatore on Sunday, September 3. The swift action of the victim's family and the public led to the immediate capture of the suspects.

Praveen Kumar, a 41-year-old lawyer from Irugur Pillaiyar Kovil Street near Coimbatore, had gone to a hotel on Railway Station Road with his wife and daughter for dinner. After their meal, while Praveen was engaged in a conversation outside the hotel, his wife and daughter went to use the restroom.

It was during this moment that two individuals attempted to kidnap Praveen's daughter. The lawyer's wife, witnessing the attempt, raised an alarm. Hearing her cries, Praveen rushed to the scene. With the help of bystanders, the two suspects were apprehended on the spot.

The culprits were immediately handed over to the Coimbatore Race Course Police. Inspector Arjun Kumar proceeded to arrest the two men. Upon investigation, the suspects were identified as Manivannan (30) and Padmanabhan (30), both residents of Ammavaasai Goundar Street in Kulathupalayam, Podanur, Coimbatore.

The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the attempted kidnapping and to uncover any potential links to organized crime. The incident has raised concerns about public safety, especially for families dining out in the city.

Local authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly. They have also commended the quick thinking of Praveen Kumar's family and the timely intervention of the public in preventing what could have been a serious crime.
