Coimbatore: Park Institutions celebrated Teacher's Day 2024 and the special DRONA award finale at its Kaniyur campus on September 5, 2024. The prestigious "PARK DRONA" award, instituted by Park Group of Institutions in remembrance of Dronacharya, the royal preceptor, has been presented annually since 2008 to achievers in the academic profession. This year's awardee is Yoga Vaishnavi, Founder of YOVA Academy, Coimbatore.
The celebration and award function commenced with a prayer and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Lakshmanan, Principal of Park College of Engineering and Technology, welcomed the gathering and commended the management's sincere efforts to recognize and honor teachers with the DRONA award annually.
Sathish Kumar, GM of Park Institutions, addressed the gathering and shared his journey from a lecturer at Park College of Engineering and Technology to his current position as General Manager. Dr. Anusha Ravi, CEO of Park Institutions, reflected on the group's humble beginnings with a single school in 1970 and its growth over 54 years to encompass 20 educational institutions. She also acknowledged the vision and efforts of Vice Chairperson Prema Ravi in the institutions' development.
Dr. P.V. Ravi, Chairman of Park Institutions, presided over the award ceremony. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of exemplary teachers in shaping students' futures, drawing parallels to how renowned rulers sought the best educators for their wards.
Guest of Honor Dr. Raja D. Pechimuthu, Associate Professor at VOC College, Tuticorin, and a qualified trainer, conducted sessions on three key concepts: Guru vs. Teacher, Happy Teaching, and Motivation for teachers.
The 2024 Drona awardee, Yoga Vaishnavi, expressed gratitude in her acceptance speech, acknowledging Dr. Anusha Ravi's support since her admission to Park Global School (CBSE) in Grade 9. She also mentioned Dr. Anusha Ravi's aspiration to see Yoga included in the Olympics and her hope for Yoga Vaishnavi to participate in those Games.
As a gesture of remembrance, all staff members received a sapling to nurture at their homes. The grand function concluded with the National Anthem, marking a memorable celebration of education and excellence.
