Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS calls for registration of names for children born before 2000 in birth registers by December 31, 2024, as per updated Registration Act 2000 rules.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS has issued an important appeal to citizens regarding the registration of names for children born before the year 2000 in birth registers. This directive comes in line with the updated Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 2000.
According to the Commissioner, citizens are advised to register the names of children born before 2000 by December 31, 2024. Failure to do so will result in the permanent inability to register names of children born before 2000. It has been clarified that the state government had already extended the deadline by 25 years, and no further extensions will be granted.
For children born up to 2017, citizens can visit the Coimbatore Corporation's main office to obtain birth certificates with the child's name. For those born after 2017, parents should approach the respective ward offices where the child was born. Applicants need to bring any document containing the child's name and date of birth (such as School Mark Sheet, School Transfer Certificate, Bonafide Letter, etc.) along with the late registration application fee.
The Commissioner also reminded citizens that for children born in the current year, parents should register the child's name within one year at the concerned Corporation office without any late registration fee.
M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS emphasized the importance of timely registration to ensure proper documentation for all citizens born before 2000. This move is expected to streamline the birth registration process and maintain accurate records for the Corporation.
