Coimbatore: A 39-year-old worker was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a car near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore. The incident occurred due to a long-standing dispute between two neighbors.

Moorthy (46), a resident of East Street in Idigarai near Periyanaickenpalayam, works as an employee in a private company. His neighbor, Purushothaman (39), is a daily wage worker. The two had been at odds with each other for some time.

On the day before yesterday, Moorthy had parked his car in front of his house. Purushothaman allegedly poured petrol on the car and set it on fire before fleeing the scene. The fire department was immediately alerted about the incident.

Firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze. However, the car was completely destroyed in the fire. Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at the Periyanaickenpalayam Police Station.
