Herd of Elephants with Calves Spotted in Coimbatore's Narasipuram, Forest Department Intervenes

Over 7 elephants with calves camped in Narasipuram, Coimbatore. Forest Department chased them back into the forest. The incident has caused concern among local residents.



Coimbatore: A herd of more than 7 wild elephants, including calves, was spotted camping in the Narasipuram area of Coimbatore, causing a stir among local residents. The incident occurred yesterday (September 21).

In recent months, elephants have been continuously damaging houses and agricultural lands in rural areas surrounding Coimbatore, including Perur, Marudamalai, Madukkarai, Thudiyalur, Vadavalli, and Thondamuthur. In this context, a herd of elephants with calves was found camping in the Narasipuram area.



Local farmers immediately alerted the Forest Department about the situation. Forest officials rushed to the spot and attempted to prevent the elephant herd from entering agricultural gardens. Subsequently, they drove the elephants back into the dense forest area.

This incident has caused fear among the farmers and residents of the area. Video footage of the elephant herd with calves returning to the forest has gone viral on social media platforms today (September 22).

Forest Department officials are continuously monitoring the area. They have also stated that measures are being taken to prevent elephants from returning to the area.
