Coimbatore: A two-year-old girl was rescued from the Chennai-Coimbatore Express train that arrived at Coimbatore Railway Station on September 21 at around 11:15 PM. The child was later handed over to an orphanage for safekeeping.
After all passengers had disembarked from the train, cleaning staff began their routine work of cleaning each compartment. During this process, they discovered a young girl, approximately two years old, sleeping on a seat in one of the compartments.
The cleaning staff immediately informed the railway police about the situation. Constables Gajendran and Ramya arrived at the scene and rescued the child, taking her to the police station.
Despite the passage of time, no one came forward to report a missing child. It remains unclear whether the parents accidentally left the child behind or intentionally abandoned her on the train.
The police are currently trying to gather information about the child's parents. In the meantime, considering the child's safety, they have handed her over to an orphanage in Kinathukadavu.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the child's family or determine the circumstances that led to her being left alone on the train.
