CCTV footage of burglar stealing 22 sovereigns of gold and Rs 5.32 lakh goes viral

A burglar broke into a house near Alanthurai, Coimbatore, stealing 22 sovereigns of gold and Rs 5.32 lakh. The CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media, causing concern among local residents.


Coimbatore: A house in Kallippalayam near Alanthurai, Coimbatore, was burgled on March 27, with the thief making off with 22 sovereigns of gold jewelry and Rs 5.32 lakh in cash. The incident came to light when the house owner, Krithika (27), returned from a family visit to Avinashi.

Upon arrival, Krithika was shocked to find the front door of her house broken. Inside, she discovered that the gold jewelry and cash stored in the cupboard were missing. She immediately informed the Alanthurai police about the theft.

The police arrived at the scene and seized CCTV footage from cameras installed in the vicinity. The footage revealed a masked individual wearing gloves and a cap to conceal their identity, calmly carrying out the burglary.

The Alanthurai police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend the mysterious burglar who stole the valuables.

The CCTV footage of the incident has since been leaked and has gone viral on social media platforms, causing concern and shock among residents in the area. The brazen nature of the crime, captured on camera, has heightened awareness about home security in the locality.

As the investigation continues, local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. The incident serves as a reminder for homeowners to strengthen their security measures and consider installing surveillance systems to deter potential burglars.
