Copra Auction at Anamalai Regulated Market Fetches Rs 24.64 Lakh

Anamalai Regulated Market held its bi-weekly copra auction on Tuesday, October 8. The auction saw 507 bags of copra sold, with first-grade copra fetching up to Rs 122.22 per kg.


Coimbatore: The Anamalai Regulated Market conducted its regular bi-weekly copra auction on Tuesday, October 8, resulting in sales totaling Rs 24.64 lakh. The market, which holds copra auctions every Tuesday and Thursday, saw active participation from traders and farmers.

According to the market supervisor, the auction featured two grades of copra. The first-grade copra, consisting of 230 bags, was sold at prices ranging from a minimum of Rs 117.77 to a maximum of Rs 122.22 per kg. The second-grade copra, comprising 277 bags, fetched prices between Rs 36.76 and Rs 110.10 per kg.

The successful auction underscores the continued demand for copra in the region and provides a stable platform for coconut farmers to sell their produce. The Anamalai Regulated Market plays a crucial role in ensuring fair prices for agricultural commodities and facilitating direct transactions between farmers and buyers.
