Four Family Members Killed in Accident Near Udumalpet

A tragic accident near Udumalpet resulted in the death of four members of a single family when a Bolero vehicle collided head-on with a Tempo Traveller. Several others were injured in the incident.


Coimbatore: A devastating accident near Udumalpet in Tiruppur district has left the community in shock as four members of a single family lost their lives in a head-on collision between a Bolero vehicle and a Tempo Traveller.

The incident occurred around midnight yesterday when six family members, including Thiyagarajan (45), his wife Preethi (40), sons Jayapriyan (11) and Jeevapriyan (13), and his parents, were returning from a funeral in Thamaraikulam, Coimbatore district. They had earlier traveled from Palani in Dindigul district.



Near Karuppusamy Puthur area in Udumalpet, their Bolero vehicle collided head-on with a Tempo Traveller heading towards Palakkad. The impact was so severe that Thiyagarajan, his wife Preethi, son Jayapriyan, and mother Manonmani (65) died on the spot.



Thiyagarajan's father Natrayan (75) and son Jeevapriyan, who were critically injured in the accident, were initially taken to Udumalpet Government Hospital for first aid. They were later transferred to Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced treatment.

Of the 23 passengers in the Tempo Traveller, about 12 sustained injuries. They received treatment at Udumalpet Government Hospital before proceeding to Palakkad.

The bodies of the four deceased have been kept at Udumalpet Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Udumalpet area. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
