Coimbatore: The baniyan companies in Tiruppur celebrated Ayudha Pooja with great enthusiasm and grandeur. A large number of workers participated in the event with high spirits.
As Ayudha Pooja is being celebrated across Tamil Nadu, the industrial city of Tiruppur observed the festival with particular zeal. Over the past two days, machinery in the factories was thoroughly cleaned in preparation for the occasion.
On the day of Ayudha Pooja, colorful kolams (rangoli) were drawn at the entrances of the companies. Workers performed pujas for the machines they operate, applying vibhuti (sacred ash), sandalwood paste, and kumkum. The entire premises of the baniyan companies were decorated with marigold flowers. Colorful papers and mango leaf garlands were strung up, while banana plants and sugarcane stalks were placed around the area. Vehicles were also decorated for the occasion.
A special puja was performed for the tools and registers used in the industry. The ceremony included the lighting of lamps and prayers for the well-being of both the industry and its workers.
Following the puja, workers were served pongal, sundal, and pori (puffed rice). Additionally, they were granted a paid holiday to mark the celebration.
