Devotees thronged Udumalpet Sri Venkateswara Perumal Temple for the fourth Purattasi Saturday special worship. Thanjavur Adheenam Sri Swaminatha Desika Swamigal offered special darshan and emphasized the importance of spirituality in modern times.
Coimbatore: The renowned Sri Venkateswara Perumal Tirupati Temple in Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, witnessed a grand celebration on the fourth Saturday of Purattasi month. The deity was adorned with a golden kavacham (armor) and special pujas were performed, including 16 types of abhishekams with milk, curd, rose water, and flowers.
Dr. Sri Swaminatha Desika Swamigal of Thanjavur Sri Karyam Thirukayilaya Skanda Parampara Suryanar Kovil Adheenam visited the temple. The temple administration welcomed him, after which he offered prayers to Sri Venkateswara Perumal and other deities.
Speaking to reporters, the Swamigal emphasized the inseparable nature of spirituality in today's world. He stated, "In this land where great sages were born, spirituality and politics coexisted. Rajarishis (royal sages) guided the administration in the kings' courts. When spirituality flourishes, all kinds of benefits will follow."
Thousands of devotees from Udumalpet, Madathukulam, Pollachi, and surrounding areas participated in the special worship, standing in long queues to have darshan of Lord Venkateswara. The devotees were provided with laddu, tulsi, and theertham as prasadam.
The Udumalpet Tirupati Sri Balaji Charitable Trust administrators had made arrangements for the special pujas on this fourth Saturday of Purattasi month, which saw participation from over a thousand devotees.
