Project Annam: How Two Service Organisations Are Quietly Changing Lives, One Meal at a Time

Project Annam – Meals on Wheels, an initiative of Coimbatore Penta Round Table 101 (CPRT 101) in partnership with Coimbatore Penta Ladies Circle 37 (LC37), has crossed the milestone of serving 30,000 freshly prepared meals to people in need across Coimbatore, reflecting the organisations’ unwavering commitment to fighting hunger through compassion, dignity and community service.

Coimbatore: In a city known for its entrepreneurial spirit and vibrant communities, an equally inspiring movement has been unfolding every single day—not in boardrooms or public rallies, but on the streets where a warm meal can mean hope, dignity and survival.

Project Annam – Meals on Wheels, an initiative of Coimbatore Penta Round Table 101 (CPRT 101) in partnership with Coimbatore Penta Ladies Circle 37 (LC37), has achieved a remarkable milestone by serving over 30,000 freshly prepared meals to people in need across Coimbatore.

What began with the distribution of just 50 nutritious meals during its launch on August 26, 2025, the true story lies beyond the statistics. Every meal delivered represents a promise kept—a commitment that no one should have to sleep hungry.

Bringing Meals to Those Who Need Them Most

To ensure that food reached beneficiaries consistently, the organisations introduced a specially branded Meals on Wheels vehicle carrying the identity of Round Table India. Since then, the vehicle has become a familiar sight across Coimbatore, travelling through neighbourhoods to serve daily wage labourers, homeless individuals, senior citizens living without support, and economically disadvantaged families.

The meals are freshly prepared, hygienically packed and delivered with care, reinforcing the belief that food should not merely fill an empty stomach but also preserve dignity.

Growing Through Collective Compassion

As awareness of the initiative spread, support from volunteers, donors, members and well-wishers steadily increased. Encouraged by this response, the organisations expanded the programme from serving 50 meals a day to 101 meals every day.

The growth reflects more than operational success—it highlights what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

Crossing the milestone of 30,000 meals is therefore not simply a numerical achievement. It is the cumulative impact of thousands of acts of generosity, hundreds of volunteer hours and countless moments of hope shared between those who give and those who receive.

More Than Food

The leadership of CPRT 101 describes Project Annam as more than a food distribution initiative. It is a movement rooted in compassion, responsibility and the belief that service to humanity is among the highest forms of giving.

The organisations attribute the success of the project to the unwavering commitment of Round Table and Ladies Circle members, volunteers, supporters and donors who have remained with the initiative since its inception.

Looking ahead, CPRT 101 and LC37 aim to expand the reach of Project Annam, inviting individuals, philanthropists and corporate organisations to join the mission of eliminating hunger—one meal at a time.

Service That Creates Lasting Impact

For decades, Coimbatore Penta Round Table 101 and Coimbatore Penta Ladies Circle 37 have championed projects in education, healthcare, social welfare and community development. Project Annam has emerged as one of their most impactful initiatives, demonstrating that meaningful change often begins with simple, consistent acts of kindness.

As the Meals on Wheels vehicle continues its daily journey through the city, it carries more than food. It carries compassion, hope and the belief that every individual deserves the dignity of a meal.
