Arthouz Coimbatore showcases 'abstract expressions'

Arthouz Coimbatore, has been continuously organising various forms of art exhibitions to promote the various art forms and artists in the city.

Yesterday, Arthouz exhibited an art show titled Abstract Expressions featuring ten artists from around the city. The artists had displayed some spectacular paintings which expressed their inner feelings and perceptions. Each painting had its own story to tell. The artists belonged to a group called Contemporary Artists of Coimbatore which worked towards creating awareness of various art forms and introducing new art forms to people in the city.

Anuradha Thiagarajan, an art teacher in a city based school has been vehement about art right from childhood and is a self-learnt artist. While speaking to Simplicity she said that "Art is my passion and it has changed my life. I work as an art teacher and absolutely love my profession. Initially, I was involved with an art form called realism which just replicates things but since the last 6 months, I have been working on Abstract Expressions. This art form helps me to express my inner self. One of the paintings which I have displayed here depicts the inner strength in every human being. This was inspired by a real life situation. At one point, I was surrounded by problems and obstacles. This painting depicts the way my inner strength helped me rise above all these obstacles. Another one depicts the plethora of emotions through various colour strokes."

"I am a law student but passionate about art. I believe that the world of reality has limits but the world of imagination is boundless. Whenever I start painting I reach a meditative stage which helps me in many ways as a person" said another self-learnt artist Deepa Shah.

Elaiyaraja Dharmalinga, the founder of Contemporary Artist of Coimbatore Group, shared that "I am a freelance artist practising abstract expressions in Coimbatore. I have been continuously exploring various forms of drawing and art. With a group of like-minded people, we started organising workshops in Coimbatore to increase awareness about various forms of art. In our city, a lot of people are interested in art but the activities to promote the art is very less. We also aim at creating a platform for artist to sell their paintings through our group. We have planned few more similar exhibitions in Chennai and Banglore too."

The exhibition is open until the 2nd of June from 11 am to 7 pm at Arthouz in Jenny's Residency, Coimbatore. Make sure you appreciate these fantastic artists and grab a painting or two!
