Inspection Drive in Coimbatore Railway Junction shuts down a restaurant and 2 food stalls

A Vegetarian food restaurant and 2 other food stalls were sealed and shutdown in Coimbatore railway junction yesterday for not displaying their names and license details in Tamil. The action was taken by Senior railway officials attached to Salem division. They also pulled up contractors in-charge of cleaning trains and manning the station’s parking lot for substandard work and fleecing passengers.

The inspection drive was led by Divisional Railway Manager Hari Sankar Varma. They sealed the restaurants because the licensee names and contact details were not mentioned in Tamil as is the rule. Also when the contact numbers were contacted there was no response.

The cheran express was also inspected and found that the toilets were in bad condition. The contractors were pulled up and directed to bring their work up to standard.

The officials also spoke to passengers to know if the contractors were overcharging them. Though there were some murmurs about parking fee being charged higher than normal, the officials didn’t have any hard evidence to prove it. But they have warned the officials in this regard.
