Elephant tramples devotee to death at Velingiri Temple
Yesterday, Subramani aged 55 hailing from Erode along with his family had visited the Vellingiri temple. On their way, the sight of a lone tusker startled them and in no time, the ferocious tusker stormed on the group leaving Subramani dead and his family with severe injuries.
The devotees enroute to the temple reported the incident to the forest officials. The officials struggled to recover Subramani's body as the lone tusker stood at the site for a while. The tusker was finally chased to the forest and the debris was recovered and sent for post-mortem. His injured family members are currently undergoing treatment at the Government hospital.
The unforeseen death incident has created a feeling of deep distress among the devotees.
Tribal lady electrocuted by electric fence near Semmedu
A tribal lady Ramathal (35) was electrocuted by an electric fencing around a private farm land at Semmedu.
According to reports, Ramathal of Semmedu near Perur was returning home after grazing her livestock's around the area. Unexpectedly, she got trapped in an electric fence which was installed to deter wild animals away from the farm and lost her life.
The police and forest officials visited the spot and kicked off the investigation. The corpse is yet to be recovered which will be sent to the government hospital for post-mortem.
