A 6 year old elephant is persumed to be severely injured at Ponnuthamman hills near Pannimadai.
The Ponnuthamman hill is a temple near Pannimadai surrounded by dense reserve forest, an important elephant corridor. Yesterday, a group of poachers have set a country made cracker to capture a wild boar.
It is surmised that an elephant got in contact with the bait by accident and acquired severe injuries around its facial area. The locals have seen this elephant roaming in pain with acute injuries all over the trunk. The forest officials are devising out plans to rescue the elephant.
