Sandeep, Propreitor of MV Jewellers at Sowkarpet Chennai had deployed his employee Yasim n to polish the jewels at Raja Street, Coimbatore. Yesterday, Yasim, as instructed polished the jewels at Raja street and was on his way back to Chennai. At the railway station, two people claiming them as Delhi Cops probed Yasim and conducted a search on his baggage, who after due verification of the documents let him go. Yasim called his boss to apprise him about the Cop intervention.
Sandeep had a very suspicious feeling about the whole episode narrated by his staff and hence asked Yasim to check the baggage and ensure the stock. Yasim was appalled to find that 313 grams of gold was found missing and immediately reported it to his boss.
Sandeep arrived to Coimbatore and narrated the whole story and filed a case at the Variety Hall Road police station. The police were startled to know that the scammers have impersonated themselves as special cops from Delhi and had swindled around 38 sovereign of gold estimated close to Rs. 8 lakh and made a crafty escape. The police have planned to retrieve the CCTV footages around the place to identify the scammers.
The tactics by scammers impersonating as cops have alerted the Raja street gold traders to be heedful.
