Kashmir: Two soldiers, two militants killed near LoC in Nowgam sector

Two soldiers and two militants were killed near the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Nowgam sector. The militants were trying to infiltrate into the Valley.

Officials said that army engaged a group of infiltrators near Nowgam sector on the LoC in Kupwara district. In the encounter, two army men and two militants were killed. Army said the operation is still under way.

On Wednesday, Army had claimed to have killed four foreign militants in the same sector and also arrested one militant. The Pakistani militant after initial interrogation was handed over to National Investigative Agency(NIA) and is being interrogated at New Delhi.

Army said the operation against the infiltrators was launched a few days ago when soldiers had spotted a group of militants near the Line of Control at Tout Mar Gali.

The arrested militant has been identified as Bhadur Ali, a resident of Lahore in Pakistan.

Confirming the arrest of a Pakistani militant in North Kashmir, Army spokesman also added that four militants were killed.

“The operation is still underway.’’ However, Army has not disclosed further details about the operation and the arrested militant.
