Stray horses and livestocks have been afflicting the commutability of motorists and pedestrians in many areas around the city.
It all started with a few numbers of stray horses here and there around the city but now we can witness noticeable amount of stray horses all around the place (especially Vadavalli, Edayarpalayam, RS Puram and many more)
Degrading grasslands, economical hindrances are the key reasons behind the owners for abandoning the old & unfit horses to nearby cities. The horses stroll all over the roads and thrive on garbages and also pose a serious threat to the motorists and pedestrians.
They are mostly seen in infectious conditions with flies all over their body and it's pathetic to see them graze the plastics from the dumps.
An abandoned pregnant horse today delivered a calf at IOB Colony, Bharathiar University PO. 'Both the horse and the calf were looking very tired and feeble, so we gave them grasses and milk', averred the residents of IOB colony.
The public insisted that the concerned Panchayat and Corporation officials should intervene and devise plans to ensure safety of the stray animals and humans as well.
