26 lakhs worth of Gold seized at Coimbatore Airport

Today, was an action-packed day at the Coimbatore Airport. The customs authorities seized eight gold bars worth 26 lakhs from a passenger.

The Customs Authorities tightened their security checks after receiving the intelligence report about gold smuggling in Coimbatore airport.

The Air Arabia flight from Sharjah arrived at the airport at 5:30 am. Salman Faris (26) a passenger of the Air Arabia flight was detained by the customs authorities for investigation. The authorities found his activities very suspicious and conducted a thorough investigation on him.

They were shocked to find eight gold bars ducked inside his body. They seized the gold bars which weighed around 932 grams approximating to 26 lakhs. He hails from Kozhikode.

The authorities took him on custody for detailed investigation.
