LMW (Lakshmi Machine Works) had organised a Annual Photography contest in the memory of their Past Chairman and Managing Director Dr. D.Jayavarathanavelu(DJ), who had a true passion for nature and photography.
The 5th edition of the DJ Memorial Photo Contest was inaugurated by Sanjay Jayavarathanavelu, MD, LMW on 30th July 2016 at the Kasthuri Sreenivasan Art Gallery, Avinashi Road.
Enthralled by nature, the array of photographs depicting wildlife strongly vouches for the hidden beauty of wildlife in their real habitats.
Vibrant feather colors, glazing fluid-filled eagle eyes, vivid eye-rings of Vultures, breath taking angles of birds, fluttering peacocks, herd of dusty elephants, cowlicks of the calfs, staring & preying tigers, gazing owls and much more.... a real visual treat for nature lovers and photographers.
Totally 1200 global entries were received by online for the contest and out of that 95 photographs were featured for display.
A special panel of judges comprising of Jill Snees by from South Africa, C.R. Sathyanarayana and S. Thippeswamy from India evaluated the photographs.
The realistic capture of a pair of gulls (seabirds) fighting over food by Ramu M was awarded the first Prize, Satisha Sarakki and Martin K.P won the second and third places.
The winners were awarded with a cash prize, 1st Prize Rs. 3 lakhs, 2nd Rs. 2.25 lakhs and third Rs.1.5 lakhs.
