Veeravijayan & Sharmi, a couple from Avarampalayam are owners of a beauty parlour at Race Course.
In the notion to promote their parlour, they have been continuously advertising their parlour in various mediums and even conducted TV shows in channels.
On 27th July, they received an anonymous call from a person, who claimed himself as Rajkumar and that he was the personal secretary of a famous Political personality.
He disclosed to the couple that the Political leader is interested to host a TV programme in his channel and also gave them his personal contact number. The couple got a call from that number claiming himself as 'that' personality, this created suspicion among the couple.
On 30th July, Rajkumar asked the couple to deposit Rs.1 lakh in his account number. The couple decided to set a trap for him and insisted him to come and directly collect it.
Rajkumar sent his friend Balasubramani to Saravanampatti bus stand to collect the cash. The couple identified him and handed him over to the police. Initial investigation reports indicate that Balasubramani is an advocate and that his friend Rajkumar's actual name is Santhanabarathy, who actually forced him to involve in this bilk.
It also came to light that the duo had previously gypped many people in similar ways. The Police officials are in search of Santhanabarathy, who has absconded.
