The 42nd edition of Rifle and Pistol Shooting Championships was kicked off today at the Coimbatore Rifle Club, Avinashi Road.
District Collector T.N.Hariharan and City Commissioner A.Amalraj inaugurated the event.
Close to 550 participants of 20 rifle clubs across the state will be participating in this five day event starting from today till 7th September.
The 10-metre range shooting will feature diverse rifles and pistols like Air Rifle, Air Pistol, 25 mt 22 Pistol, 50 mt rifle.
Padmanabhan, Organiser of the event stated that the winners will get a chance to participate in the National & International championships as well.
Gayathri, Sri Nidhi and Abirami participants of the events stated that 'We are excited about the competition. We are working hard to score more points and participate in Nation level event'
The competition will be held for Under 15, Under 18 and Above 21 categories. The winners will be honoured with gold, silver and bronze medals on the final day of the competition.
