The Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijay Karthikeyan and District Collector T.N.Hariharan yesterday visited the Chairman Rajiv Nagar and Ganapathy Ma Marathottam of the 10th ward.
They inspected on the ongoing sanitation work carried out by the Public Healthcare Department focusing towards prevention of Dengue Fever and related seasonal epidemics.

The District Collector along with Corporation Commissioner interacted with the people of the 10th ward to create awareness on dengue and methods to improve people's sanitation standards.
Here are the points emphasised at the meet:
- The officials insisted the residents to maintain cleanliness around their locale to alleviate mosquito breeding.
- Water stagnation in flower pots, old tyres, water pots, vessels, open tanks etc., are the prime cause for all dreadful disease and hence they should be regularly cleaned and disposed, they emphasised.
- Awareness pamphlets and Nilavembu Kashayam's were distributed to the residents.
- People were advised to boil the drinking water and use it for consumption.
- In case of prolonged ailments like fever, body pain, headache etc., they should seek proper medical assistance without delay.
- The residents were adjured to bestow their full support and cooperation to the Corporation sanitation workers.
- The Anganwadi staff and the School teachers were educated to keenly watch students, who are absent for long periods due to ailments and assist them to the nearest Primary Health Care Centres.

Municipal Health Officer Santosh Kumar and Government Officials from health & sanitation departments were also present during the inspection.
