The special surveillance team during the 2016 TN Election detained three container trucks carrying Rs 570 crore in Tiruppur at the Tiruppur - Chengapalli highways, which created a huge flutter amongst the people and the political outfits.
The State Bank of India after a brief pause claimed ownership of the cash and was stated that it was caught during a regular inter-bank transfer.
The sensational case was handed over to the CBI for further investigation. Yesterday, as part of the scrutiny CBI Officials conducted a special inquiry session at SBI Main branch, Coimbatore. The Officials started their inquiry with the Manager, Incharge of the Vault, probing questions on the incident.
The CBI officer initiated a detailed investigation session by posing questions on the date of dispatch of the cash from SBI, how it was dispatched, and how the 570 crores were arranged in the vault prior to dispatch.
He recorded and got the statements attested from the SBI Manager-Vault. Two police officers were also present during the inquiry session.
