Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation in association with 'Aram' Foundation charitable Trust today launched a Smart Class initiative at the Corporation Higher Secondary School, Selvapuram.
Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Dr.Vijay Karthikeyan inaugurated the initiative in presence of Aram foundation's trustee Latha Sitaraman and M.S.Uma, Corporation education Officer.

Latha Sitaraman addressed the gathering on the initiative. She stated that four schools have been selected in the first phase for implementation of smart class initiative, under the scheme 'Vetri Palli'. Under this scheme the students of 10th grade will be taught using projectors and Happy Child, Safe touch and Self defence awareness are the other projects under this initiative, she revealed.

Corporation Commissioner, Dr.Vijaykarthikeyan advised the students to pay equal attention in extracurricular activities apart from academics. He emphasised on the view that 'students should cultivate the habit of correcting their friend's mistakes and ultimately guide them to the right path as friends play a crucial part in shaping our lives, hence it is important to be with right people'.

The smart school project will soon be extended to the Corporation schools at Venkitapuram, Okiliyar Colony, Peelamedu in the coming phase. The Corporation Higher Secondary School, Selvapuram's Headmaster Ranganathan, Staff members and students were present at the event.
