The Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University today inaugurated the 'Intellectual Property Rights Cell' (IPR) at the University.
The chief guests for the function were Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Outstanding scientist, Director, INMAS-DRDO, New Delhi. Dr. S.P. Subramaniyan, Head, Patent Office, Govt. of India, Chennai. Dr. A.Arunkumar, Director, BioAges Innovations Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore.

The Patent Officer of Bharathiar University, Dr. T. Parimelazhagan in his welcome address briefed on IPR and the need for students to understand the practical implication of IPR. He also shared his experience on filing patents and advised the young researchers to innovative research along with quality assurance and social responsibility.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, stated on the efforts taken up by DRDO to improve the standard of research and importance of IPR in current research fields. Dr. A.Arunkumar appreciated the University's efforts for inaugurating an IPR cell and create awareness about IPR among young researchers and student community. Dr. S.P. Subramaniyan listed out the role of government in IPR issues.
A special website was launched for IPR cell (www.ipr.b-u.ac.in). The website provides necessary details about. importance of IPR, patent registration procedures, copy rights, trademarks and geographical Indications.
Syndicate members, University Officials, Professors, Research Scholars, Students and Faculties actively participated in the launch function.
