68 students of Govt.Polytechnic College hospitalised, suspected food poisioning


Sixty-eight students of Govt. Polytechnic College, Bharathiar Road fell ill due to suspected food poisoning and were admitted to Government Hospital on Sunday night and Monday morning.

26 students complained of stomach pain and uneasiness and a few fainted off after the dinner on Sunday night. The college wardens immediately attended to their ailments and admitted at the Government Hospital. 

Today morning, 42 more students were admitted today claiming similar ailments. The medical team at GH have been attending to the students and the CMCH Dean, Edwin Jo reported that all required treatments have been administered and the students are recovering from the sickness. A team has been deputed to the college hostel to inspect the reasons for students' ailments, he reported.

The sudden admission of the students in bulk caused panic amongst the students of Govt. Polytechnic College. It is a huge sigh of relief for the students and the college as all the 68 students are recovering from their illness.
