AAP to release 'farmers manifesto' in Punjab

To woo farmers ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections Delhi Chief Minister and national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal will release a ‘farmers manifesto’ in Moga on September 11.

AAP’s manifesto committee chief Kanwar Sandhu told reporters in Chandigarh on Wednesday that the manifesto would cover all issues affecting the Punjab farmers.

Mr. Sandhu said the manifesto would roll out an action plan to prevent suicides by farmers and farm workers. A debt relief package was also on the cards, he said, as the AAP was committed to zero-farmer suicide.

“The idea is to bring back cheer to the farmers in the State,” said Mr. Sandhu, adding that the manifesto was prepared by the ‘Bolda Punjab’ team after holding dialogues with farmers in different regions.
