DVK party petitions to initiate stern action against violators during Vinayagar Chathurthi celebrations

Today the activists of 'Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam' (DVK) have petitioned to the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijaya Karthikeyan, to initiate stern action against the violators during the Vinayagar Chathurthi Celebrations.

The petitioners pointed out that the orders passed by the pollution control board to avoid hazardous raw materials like plaster of paris has been trespassed and still idols are created using those banned materials, they stated.  The idols made of plaster of paris, when immersed in water bodies lead to severe water contamination and hence the authorities should restrict permissions for installation of such idols, they proposed.

As per the law, people are not supposed to travel in goods vehicles like lorries / trucks but during the idol procession, large groups of people throng the lorries and travel along with the idols. Hence, the authorities should issue due warnings to the people to abstain from doing so, failing to comply the vehicle license and registration should be nullified, they suggested.
