A review meeting is currently on-going at the Collectorate to discuss on the upcoming local body election scheduled on October.
The State Election Commissioner of Tamilnadu, Mr. Seetharaman, is currently conducting the review meeting on preparations for the forthcoming local body elections like security measures, training for election duty officials, election booths etc.,
Coimbatore District Collector Mr. T.N. Hariharan IAS, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, Vijaya Karthikeyan, City Commissioner of Police, A.Amalraj IPS and other Government authorities were present during the discussion session.
At the press meet, Mr. Seetharaman reported that the election commission has been conducting district-wise meetings throughout the state. He said that the Coimbatore district administration has requested for 1650 electronic voting machines to handle the local body elections in October. The local administration officers throughout the state have been instructed to prepare the updated voters list for all the wards in their jurisdiction by 31st August. The updated list of the voters can be viewed at the National Information Center's website from 1st September onwards.
He has insisted the authorities to designate staffs to handle the local body elections and train them to handle the wards and the voting machines.
